A Few Of My Favorite Things: August

Happy Labor Day everyone! This past month I haven’t spent a lot of time in the makeup aisle, so I only have four favorites this time around. These are all products though that are easy to use and will give you a naturally glam appearance heading into fall and back to school.

1.  My favorite Smashbox shadow trio was running low, so my goal was to just pick up a new one, but instead I grabbed this. This particular palette caught my attention because of the variety it possesses. There are fourteen shadows total and shockingly half of them are mattes! This really gives you the ability to create many different looks. One of the perks of this palette also is that it comes with a guide to finding your eye shape! I know, it doesn’t sound that difficult but I honestly discovered I have been applying shadow to my almond eyes all wrong! I have finally started playing with darker shadows which never seemed to work for me in the past. If you are interested in just finding your eye shape, check out the Smashbox YouTube Channel! They have a walk through and then more in depth videos for how to apply this palette to create the perfect look.

Smashbox – Full Exposure Palette $49

2. When I purchased the Full Exposure Palette, it came with a deluxe sample of the Full Exposure Mascara. Not even a week later, I went and grabbed the full size. Like I’ve said in the past, I was using Benefit They’re Real Mascara and Bare Minerals Lash Domination layered over one another to create full lashes. The only issue with that technique was how it would sometimes clump and was difficult to fully remove. This Smashbox mascara has completely taken over my lashes. It goes on so smoothly and none of my lashes stick together! Plus, at the end of the day it wipes right off. It’s a slow drying formula which I really like because it allows me to build up the volume and create natural looking full lashes.

3. I have become quite a fan of Yves Saint Laurent lipsticks over the past couple months. I have a Rouge Volupte Shine lipstick from them that has been used everyday since I purchased it. That particular formula is almost like a gloss, its beautiful and sheer but I decided I wanted a creamer YSL lipstick and I went and grabbed this cutie. The color is a beautiful rose taupe that I swear will look amazing on every skin tone. The formula is beautifully creamy and gives your lips a beautiful satin finish. The pigment is so strong and dense that you just need one swipe and your good to go! I definitely now have another YSL lipstick that will not leave my handbag. It’s beautiful and no joke, next time your around these lipsticks, check this one out! I know the packaging isn’t as cute as some of the others they carry, but the formula is so much nicer.

Yves Saint Laurent – Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in 10 (Beige Tribute) $35

4. This is an oldie for me. I have been a huge fan of this specific sunless tanner for years now and I always keep one around. I’ve tried higher end fake tans and I honestly don’t feel like they hold a candle to this one. The green based tone creates a wonderful dark tan. The formula is fool proof to apply; all you have to do is spray it directly onto your skin after exfoliating and moisturizing. Then using the mitt that’s included, you just use circular motions to evenly distribute the product. All I do then is sleep with the product on and in the morning I was the guide color off to reveal a truly natural looking tan. Thankfully, this product doesn’t have a scent like most tanners (and all other ones from this brand) and it washes off fabrics like a champ. I’ve got it all over my white towels and I just toss them in the washing machine and every drop of color comes out. Plus, as long as you keep your skin hydrated this tan will last you a few days! Also, you get around ten applications out of each bottle.

Fake Bake – Flawless $25

Like always, let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these products or if you know of anything I would like! I really appreciate your opinions and recommendations. I have actually purchased things followers have told me about in the past. Have a nice holiday and I will see you back here in a couple days!
