The talented sisters behind the HAIM name aren’t just making waves with their unique music, but also with their beyond trendy style. Although the musicians are becoming known for their “on the fly” dressing choices (i.e. getting dressed in handicap stalls.) they put a lot of thought and effort into their image. These ladies are insanely consistent with wardrobe choices. They possess a clear admiration for black booties, button up blouses, cut-off denim, long relaxed hair, motorcycle jackets and red lipstick. Even when being styled, the sisters give a list of what designers they are willing and unwilling to wear. The unwilling list has yet to be released, but from what I have found, they enjoy Isabel Marant and Chloé. They even go as far as to say that “western accents” are encouraged. The talented trio has also gone on record with their distaste of being coined “a girl band” and “a girl group.” According to Alana Haim (22) “Growing up, there were a lot of girl artists like the Spice Girls, Aaliyah, and Destiny’s Child. But none of them really played instruments and I would always look up to Stevie Nicks and Blondie — they are dope female musicians. So I just see us as a band. When people call us a girl band, I take it as an insult.” When listening to their album and their hit songs “The Wire” and “Forever,” you can hear those who they admire playing through your speakers. Luckily for HAIM, they know who they are and what they like which makes the sisters of HAIM a force to be reckoned with.
